Academic Eligibility

At High Tech High Chula Vista, we hold our student-athletes to high academic standards. To participate in athletics, all students must maintain a 70% or higher in every class in their current classes.

Student-athletes will be required to complete two grade checks per semester utilizing the form below. We believe in the balance of academics and athletics, and our policies ensure that students prioritize both their education and their commitment to their team.

Academic Eligibility: To remain academically eligible, the student athlete must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a C- or higher in all current classes. Academics are the number one priority for student athletes. If there is an unavoidable conflict involving athletics and academics, academics always have priority. In most cases, through proper planning and communication, conflicts can be resolved.Nonetheless, students who earn less than a 2.5 GPA or a C- in any class at the close of the first semester will not be allowed to participate in a sport until they regain academic eligibility. Students who earn less than a 2.5 GPA or a C- in any class for the second semester must get approval from both the Athletic Director and School Director to participate in a fall sport the subsequent school year.Notwithstanding the above criteria, an Athletic Director or School Director may determine, in their sole discretion, that a student is academically ineligible if they have reason to believe that further participation in a sport will impede or imperil the student’s academic progress or standing.

Sports Physical

A sports physical is required each academic year for student-athletes to participate. Physicals must clearly state clearance for athletic participation and remain valid for one full calendar year, covering the entire season.

Plan ahead! Appointment slots fill quickly over the summer, so we strongly recommend scheduling early.
All pages of the completed physical must be uploaded to Athletic Clearance. Physical copies will not be accepted.

We expect our student-athletes to demonstrate their commitment by prioritizing these essential steps to ensure their eligibility.

How to Register

Visit www.homecampus.com to create or update your profile.

Make sure to remember your username and password-- this will be your login for all 4 years of high school.

Upload a current sports physical (see form above). A valid physical must include a medical office stamp and a doctor’s signature.
Register for each sport separately. If you plan to participate in additional sports outside of the current season, you will need to log in and add each sport once registration opens.

Ensuring your registration is complete helps keep you ready for competition!

Athletic Clearance

To comply with CIF guidelines, all student-athletes must be fully cleared through athletic clearance by the deadline to participate. Exceptions will only be made if prior communication has been established and approved.

Please start the clearance process early—last-minute submissions may result in ineligibility.

All student athletes must create an online profile through athleticclearance.com. On this online registration, you will fill out contact, medical and school information. This is required by the state of California and our CIF office.

This must be completed annually for every sport, every season.
